Neues Wesley Geer Interview

How did you start working with Korn?
I have know the Korn guys from back in the mid nineties, we played local clubs shows together, then toured together later when I was ith my band (hed) P.E.. They asked if I would be interested and I said ‘Hell yah!‘ -I have always thought Korn was one of the most amazing heavy bands I had ever seen or heard. Truly inspirational.
What’s the hardest song to play live?
hmm good question. I still think the fast ascending heavy riff in No Place to Hide is challenging to play super tight when I’m rockin out.
What do you do during free time on tour?
Free time on the road consists of a lot of relaxing. Shows really take their toll on the body and sleeping on the tour bus isn’t quite as reinvigorating as my bed at home! haha Other than that, I like to run, hit the gym, go exploring the cities I’m in, EAT at good restaurants, and work on ‘the Damages’ stuff (a new band I have been putting together) and any other projects I have going on. With the music business like it is you always gotta be hustlin.
Tell us a bit about your guitar(s) and equipment?
With KoRn I am currently using Mesa Boogie heads, triple and dual rectifiers. I use Ibanez 7 strings. I have a few; some Prestige, some RG series, that are set up to my liking. I prefer a couple humbuckers and a single coil in the middle slot, 5-way switch. Also live I use a TC Electronic G-System, cuz it’s so G! haha it’s really great for durability, ease of use, great tone, switching my amps and multiple effects in one click. I also use a Digitech Whammy II, and a Dunlop Wah of course.
Who do you get on best with on tour?
We have such a cool group of people out on the road.
You know we’ve all been doing this long enough so you know you have to get along well with people in this business or you’ll be miserable and probably won’t be around long. The Korn guys and the crew are all super chill -we laugh a lot.
What bands did you listen to growing up?
So much different stuff. I grew up on classical like Beethoven & Bach. This will date me, but back in 6th grade it was Dead Kennedys, Ozzy, Van Halen, Agent Orange, Iron Maiden, Oingo Boingo, Queen, Sex Pistols, Judas Priest, Bauhaus, Then Metallica came along in high school “Fight Fire with Fire” was the heaviest shit I ever heard!
What has been the most memorable moment with Korn?
Wow tough question, so many amazing experiences with these guys….hmmm well playing in front of 80,000 people at Rock am Ring in a thunder and lightning storm was definitely in the top five!
