Das Interview ist dahingehend interessant, dass Fieldy erzählt, dass das neue Album sehr viele Up-Tempo Songs haben wird, d.h. – mit viel Tempo und Energie. “Nach dem Motto reine hoch und runter spring Songs zum abgehen.” – Zum Schluß sollten Ray und Fieldy Weisheiten des Lebens zum Besten geben. Ray sagt nur “Words of wisdom? – Wow! – Ich bin der Meinung, dass man immer positiv eingestellt sein sollte und positiv an die Dinge des Lebens herangehen sollte. Das macht vieles leichter.”

Fieldy gibt gegen Ende des Jahres ein neues Solo-Album heraus und er sagt ganz offen, dass es nicht hart ist. Er sagt auch, dass er weiß, dass viele Korn Fans sein neues Album nicht mögen werden:

He adds, “I’ve always wanted to do it. When I was younger, learning bass, I listened to a lot of bass albums; Stanley Clarke, I grew up listening to that type of stuff.”

“I don’t want people to be confused and buy it and not like it. It’s not heavy,” he emphasizes. “I don’t want people to get it and think, ‘Man, I can’t believe I bought this crap’. It’s not meant to be heavy. If you like heavy and are not open-minded, you will not like this.”

For the upcoming CD, Fieldy multi-tracked lead and rhythm parts using a 15-string bass, stand-up bass and fretless bass.

“It’s insane, man. I did so many lead tracks and rhythm tracks,” he tells Noisecreep. “Sometimes, it’s chaotic. It kinda takes you on a ride through the CD, so you can have a mellow funk track next to a chaotic bunch of basses going crazy. Right now, I have 11 songs finished. I might do two more, but it’s pretty much done.”

Fieldy’s Bandprojekt wird doch nicht in Kanada als Vorband auftreten. Grund seien Probleme mit der Veröffentlichung des 1. Albums:

Revolver magazine recently spoke with Kornfrontman Jonathan Davis and bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu about the band’s forthcoming ninth album, which is said to be a return to the group’s earlier sound.

“We experimented with a lot of cool stuff on our last two records [2005's 'See You On The Other Side' and 2007's untitled effort], but we didn’t want to do another record like that,” Davis explained. “So we said, ‘Let’s strip it back again. Let’s do this as a four-piece and make it real raw like the old stuff.”

KORN worked on the new CD with producer Ross Robinson, who helmed the band’s first two albums, 1994’s “Korn” and 1996’s “Life is Peachy”.

“We figured if we’re gonna go back [to the early KORN sound], we should do it with Ross,” said Fieldy. “And it was great. Even though we hadn’t seen him in years, it felt just like old times.”

He added, “We made sure that every song we were working on had everything that represents the integrity that you hear on [KORN's 1994 debut]. There’s on faster, really heavy song that’s pretty different for us, but the rest is a combination of everything we were in ‘93. It’s funky; it’s heavy; it’s melodic. It’s everything, man. It’s KORN.”

KORN’s forthcoming effort was tracked last October at the band’s studio. “We recorded everything on tape, just like we did in the old days,” said Davis. “And we didn’t stack four or five vocal parts like I usually do. I’m singing one part for every song, which was scary. It’s just me and the microphone, and you can really hear the emotion.”

As part of Robinson’s tireless quest to wring every last bit of emotion from his artists, he encouraged Davis to revisit past traumas to fuel his performance. “He used any kind of ammunition he had to get me into that headspace where I felt like I wanted to scream and run away,” Davis said. “I basically went fucking crazy making this record. When I was done, I was emotionally gone and in tears and everything. And the memories don’t just go away. I’d brew on ‘em all day. It was rough.”

KORN’s ninth studio album is now being mixed for a June release.

The band has yet to sign a new record deal, after releasing its last two efforts through Virgin.

“Munky hatte vor ein paar Tagen in einem Interview gesagt, dass ich um Wiederaufnahme in die Band gebeten hätte. Das stimmt nicht ganz. Die Wahrheit ist, dass JD mich vor ca. einem Jahr kontaktierte und mich zurück in der Band haben wollte. Daraufhin haben mich die Korn-Manager ununterbrochen kontaktiert und mein Manager hat dann diese Türen für mich wieder zu gemacht.

Naja – Fieldy rief mich während ihrer letzen Europa Tour (Escape from the Studio) an und wir beide sprachen sehr lange als Freunde miteinander. Fieldy versicherte mir, dass die Tür für mich immer offen sei, wenn ich zurück wollte. Nachdem Fieldy trocken und wie ich ein richtiger Christ geworden ist, dachte ich, dass es vielleicht eine gute Idee sei, dass wir uns treffen. Als ich dann bei ihm zuhause war, schlug Fieldy vor auch Munky und JD einzuladen, sodass wir alle uns wie Freunde treffen und über eventuelle Reunion-Möglichkeiten sprechen könnten. Dieses Treffen wurde von Munky und JD abgelehnt.
Ich habe gelernt, dass ich meine Freunde liebe und vermisse. Ich bin aber ganz woanders in meinem Leben im Vergleich mit ihnen (Munky + JD).

Als Munky im Interview sagte, dass alles ordentlich geteilt worden wäre, hat er auch nicht ganz die Wahrheit gesagt. Seitdem ich im Jahre 2005 die Band verlassen habe, habe ich bis heute die mir zustehenden Geldanteile nicht bekommen (Gema-Radio, spielen der Songs live, CD/DVD-Verkäufe etc.). Ich hoffe, dass meine Freunde bald den Verträgen Folge leisten werden.

Ich bin optimistisch, dass wir Freunde bleiben können.

Ich wünsche mir weiterhin nichts als das Beste für Korn und das beinhaltet all meine Freunde, die dort sind – Munky, Fieldy und JD. “
